Three Dimensional Lenticular Postcards
Experience the magic of Lenticular Printing! This unique printing process
creates the illusion of depth, motion, and images that change. The secret to
its success is the exact combination and alignment of your art with the lenses
of this special material. The effect seems to come alive as the viewing angles
of the piece is changed. Remarkable and creative effects can be achieved with
your art adapted to lenticular printing.
Lenticular print really isn’t magic at all. The secret is the lens, an extruded plastic sheet containing thousands of optical-grade cylindrical lenses, or lenticules, running parallel to each other on the front face.
Brand Awareness
All of these hot new ideas are paying off for marketers because the nature of the lenticular images gets people to stop and take another look. The longer a consumer interacts with the image, the more brand awareness is developed. When you have the capability to reach a viewer with a medium that is this expressive, what do you do with it?
The lenticular process starts with the images. Two or more images are spliced together in very narrow strips, a process called interlacing. The strips are spaced so that a small part of each image fits underneath one lenticule. Each individual lenticule magnifies a portion of the images underneath it. However, as you look at a lenticule from any given angle, it reveals a strip from only one image at a time. Since a lenticular print is actually many lenticules working together in harmony, the result is a complete image that changes as the viewing angle changes. This allows for the image to change, or “flip,” between two or three images.
What’s more, by using many similar images, animation and even short video can be incorporated into a lenticular image. Many popular effects are possible, including morphing one object into another, zooming in on an object, spinning a logo, or making a character walk.
Three-Dimensional Graphics
Lenticular graphics can also appear three-dimensional. It works because each of your eyes sees the world from its own viewpoint. Your brain combines the images to give you a sense of depth and distance. This is called binocular disparity. When a lenticular print is designed with lenticules that run vertically, each eye will view a distinct image and the brain will combine them to create a sense of depth and distance, or dimensionality, in a flat print.
Great lenticular starts with a great design concept, so it’s important that customers work with the skilled lenticular designers at E.U.F. Corporation who are familiar not only with the possibilities of the medium but its boundaries and limitations as well.
Product Effects and Design:
- 3-D: Multiple layers and objects simulate depth or distance.
You will want to reach in and touch!

- Flip: The most popular effect, a flip uses two or three images that
quickly change from one to the other. This effect works well for introducing new
items, teaser ads, and before and after images.

- Animation: This attention-grabbing effect is set into motion as the
viewing angle changes.

- Morph: Transform one object into another! Take your product or
service from now to “new and improved.”

- Zoom: Elements appear to grow larger before your eyes as they
move from the background to the foreground. Highlight new products or logos.
